I read this book a few years ago and enjoyed it immensely. Of the many retellings of Beauty and the Beast or similar stories, this is one of my favorites. She's also mastered the steamy sex scene. I enjoyed Draven's other books - loved Radiance - and I have no complaints about her writing style and descriptive abilities.

It seemed affected and made her accent sound fake. Her frequent and inexplicable mispronunciation of the letter "u" ("butt- cherd" for butchered, really?) was distracting. The narrator didn't do it any favors, either. Sure, instant attraction does exist, but in this context we really need some sort of explanation as to why a widow who has been with no one since her husband's death would choose to suddenly fall into bed with an ensorcelled beast whose gnarly toenails she just got done clipping. There was also no buildup or explanation to the main characters' sexual relationship. But her constant control-freak bullying and threats of actual bodily harm toward almost everyone around her were over the top and not charming or clever. I get that she's supposed to be a strong-willed woman who doesn't spend her time worrying about what people think of her, and that's great. The heroine just wasn't really that likeable, to start with. I thought Radiance was a surprisingly good rendition of a Beauty and the Beast type tale, and felt like Entreat Me didn't come close to matching it. I have liked all of the other books by Grace Draven that I've read, but this one really fell flat, for me.
